LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - Health officials say that influenza rates in Lancaster County remain very low, with only six positive flu cases being recorded since October.

According to the latest data released by the Lincoln/Lancaster County Health Department, six positive influenza tests were recorded from Oct. 1 – Dec. 28.

The report states that influenza activity in Lancaster County and Nebraska remains low, which is the trend nationwide, as well.

“Things that folks are doing to mitigate the risk of Covid seems to have worked very nicely to mitigate the risk of influenza at the same time,” said Dr. Cliff Robertson with CHI Health.

Robertson said CHI Health has not seen an influenza patient admitted to their hospitals in Nebraska so far this flu season, which he described as atypical.

Statewide data shows that there have only been 71 positive influenza cases in Nebraska since Sept. 27, although the latest available data ends on Dec. 12.
