The Buffalo Bills are knocking down all sorts of ghosts in 2020. They have won the AFC East for the first time since 1995. Monday night, they will try and do something they have not done since last century: Sweep the New England Patriots in the season series.

It was a long, long time ago, in 1999, when the Buffalo Bills, who were coached by Wade Phillips, managed to win both games against the Patriots, who were coached by Pete Carroll … yes, that Pete Carroll.

The first game saw Buffalo win 17-7 as Doug Flutie threw a pair of touchdown passes while going 9-of-16 for 207 yards.

New England had Drew Bledsoe at QB and the former No. 1 overall pick went 18-of-34 for 205 yards and a TD. He was sacked six times.

In the rematch, the game went to overtime before Steve Christie kicked a 23-yard field goal to give Buffalo a 13-10 victory.

Bledsoe was sacked six more times and went 10-of-21 for 101 yards. Flutie was 22-of-35 for 212 yards.
