Norway's export volume of fresh salmon continued to rise in week 51 for the fifth week in a row to reach a new high, as the average export price rose after reaching year-low levels the previous week, the latest data published by the Norwegian Seafood Council shows.
Export volumes of fresh salmon increased by 3% week-on-week to 24,824 metric tons, which was due to a rise in exports to Japan, South Korea and the EU, which increased by 58%, 34% and 2% w-o-w, respectively, to 448t, 771t and 20,597t.
However, exports to China and the UK dropped by 5% and 12% w-o-w, respectively, to 328t and 1914t, while exports to the US remained flat at around 90t in week 51, as the chart below shows.

The average unit price of this product increased slightly w-o-w to NOK 46.29 (€4.37/$5.33) per kilogram.
Fresh salmon fillets followed the same trend, as export volumes also rose. However, the average export price fell further to a new low since 2018 in week 51, as it dropped further to NOK 83.60/kg in week 51.
Exports of fresh salmon fillets rose by 16% to 2901t, its highest level since at least 2018, according to the data, which is due to an increase in exports to all main markets but the EU, to which exports dropped by 6% to 1181t.
When it comes to frozen salmon, this product's exports increased by 25% to 414t in week 51. The average export value of this product, however, dropped by 21% to NOK 48.18/kg.
Besides, volumes of frozen salmon fillets remained flat at around 1,170t, while its average unit price significantly dropped by 11% to NOK 95.65/kg, data shows.
