NFL Network analyst, retired Cowboy WR, and Hall-of-Famer Michael Irvin is not a happy camper.

His team’s ousting from the Week 15 Sunday Night Football primetime slot in favor of the Cleveland Browns and New York Giants game obviously is not sitting well with him.

And let’s be clear, Michael Irvin is not one to hold in his feelings as evidenced by his recent appearance on 105.3 The Fan.

What He Said

“Can you imagine, man, the Dallas Cowboys flexed out for the Cleveland Browns? Honestly, that’s a new low,” Michael Irvin said, via Jon Machota of The Athletic. “That’s just absolutely a new low.”

Backhanded Compliment

The Cleveland Browns should take this as a backhanded compliment.

Irvin bleeds blue and silver and does not hide his bias for his former team.

His disgust is in the obvious fact that the Browns and Cowboys are going in different directions.

To be honest, the Cowboys resemble the Browns of years past, seemingly full of talent but never able to put it together on the field.

Whereas the Browns are starting to look like the Cowboys of the 90’s.

Okay, maybe that’s a little ambitious.

The Browns are running somewhat of an old school offensive scheme.

Led by an awesome running game, an outstanding offensive line, and smart play calling, you could draw some correlations between the current Browns team and the teams Irvin was a part of.

New York Giants

Not only are the Browns surging, but the 5-7 New York Giants are also finding ways to win, first without Saquon Barkley and now without Daniel Jones.

Case in point, they found a way to beat Russell Wilson and the Seahawks with Colt McCoy at the helm.

The NFL’s decision to flex the game is related to the fact that the Giants are in the playoff hunt because the NFC East is considerably below par this year, and the Browns are trying to secure the 4th seed/wildcard spot in the AFC.

Back To Week 14

That’s next week.

The Browns need to focus on Week 14 and the grudge match with the Baltimore Ravens.

Everyone knows the Ravens soundly defeated the Browns in Week 1 by a score of 38-6.

The Browns are a different team now.

It remains to be seen where the Ravens stand in the midst of the COVID-19 chaos they’ve endured.

In the meantime, Cleveland Browns fans can enjoy watching their team on primetime in both Weeks 14 and 15.

This is yet another example of the unfamiliar territory this surging team finds itself in.
