Karbach Brewing Free & Easy NA IPA

The Spring Branch brewery came out with its first non-alcoholic beer this year. Free & Easy is an IPA-style malt beverage with citrusy notes from the blend of five hops, balanced by a hint of sweetness. There is less than 0.5% alcohol by volume in the drink, so this is not a good option for those avoiding alcohol strictly. $9 for a 6-pack; karbachbrewing.com

Kickin’ Kombucha

Kombucha, the tangy fermented tea, is all the rage for a reason. Kickin’ started in 2012 and is now available at Whole Foods, retail stores and its taproom in the East End. Because ‘booch is fermented, it contains a trace of alcohol. $3; kickinkombuchapickup.com

Pat Greer’s Kitchen Kombucha

Pat Greer is Houston’s O.G. vegan. She opened her plant-based food business out of her own kitchen in 2006. Greer’s meals, snacks and sweet treats are great, but her kombucha should not be slept on either. It comes in flavors like Lemon Cayenne and Spicy Ginger. $4; patgreerskitchen.com

Saint Arnold Brewing Root Beer

Texas’ oldest craft brewery makes a non-alcoholic root beer, made with Imperial cane sugar. The Saint Arnold team decided to produce one because a lot of families came to the brewery with children, and it’s been a hit ever since. Erin Simpson’s search for a not-too-sweet ginger beer resulted in Thirdborn, a perfectly spicy, refreshing version.
