North Gene Autry Trail at the wash reopened at 10:48 a.m. today for all traffic from East Via Escuela to Salvia Road. However, North Indian Canyon Drive remains closed at the wash after shuttering overnight due to low visibility and sand buildup caused by blowing winds.
North Indian Canyon Drive was closed at the wash around 11:30 p.m. Friday, while Palm Springs police announced that Gene Autry Trail at the wash was no longer accessible at 5 a.m. Saturday. East Vista Chino was also closed at the wash overnight, with police reopening the road around 7:30 a.m. Saturday.
Police did not offer an estimated reopening times for Indian Canyon. The weather Saturday is expected to be hot and windy, with highs forecasted in the mid-90s, and winds anticipated to be around 10 to 15 mph, with gusts up to 30 mph.
