Aaron Lewis Hits A New Career Low With His New Album - Forbes

Aaron Lewis has found commercial success in America both as a member of a band and a solo star. That’s not terribly common, but he has managed to enjoy two lengthy and fruitful careers. That said, his latest release debuts much lower than any of his previous solo offerings, and it’s set an unfortunate new record for the musician.

The Hill, Lewis’ latest solo album, debuts at No. 175 on the Billboard 200 this week. It’s one of only five new arrivals on the tally this frame, and it’s easily the lowest-ranking.

Lewis’ new album is also the lowest-charting of his solo career. It’s actually the first of his five full-lengths to fail to crack the top 40 on the Billboard 200.

This week, The Hill launches with 8,133 equivalent units shifted, according to Luminate. That sum includes 6,826 pure purchases, which helped the title reach the Billboard 200 at all.

On his own, Lewis has reached the top 10 on the Billboard 200 twice. His sophomore solo set Sinner peaked at No. 4 on the tally back in 2016. Five years earlier, his Town Line EP became his first solo top 10 when it climbed to No. 7.

In addition to his pair of top 10s, Lewis has also reached the top 40 on the Billboard 200 with all of the following albums: The Road (No. 30 peak), State I’m In (No. 19), and Frayed at Both Ends (No. 39). The latter title is his most recent solo effort before The Hill. It ranked as high lowest-charting until now, and the difference between their high points is huge.

Lewis got his start in music and made his name as the lead singer and one of the guitarists for rock band Staind. The group has collected three No. 1s and two other top 10s on the Billboard 200. They also suffered something of a disappointment last year when they returned with their latest album Confessions of the Fallen, which only climbed as high as No. 64–much lower than the No. 5 peak of their previous release, 2011’s self-titled affair.
