The fourth named storm of 2021 may form before the day is out — if it is able to organize prior to moving onshore in Georgia tonight.

The NHC is monitoring a tropical low to the east of Savannah Georgia that is expected to become a tropical depression or even tropical storm prior to making landfall there tonight. If it is able to obtain tropical storm intensity, it will take the name Danny. Regardless of devleopment, it will bring wind driven rain to parts of Georgia and South Carolina through the morning hours Tuesday.

Elsewhere, the NHC continues to watch a tropical wave in the far eastern Atlantic that has a medium chance of becoming a tropical depression as it nears the Caribbean later this week. Models remain split on development chances, and there’s still a long way to go with that system before it comes anywhere close to the U.S.

Meteorologist Jim Dickey takes an in-depth look at both systems in his latest ‘Tropics Talk’ video blog.
