University community continues to record low COVID-19 cases - University of Virginia The Cavalier Daily

The University community recorded zero new COVID-19 cases Sunday as the number of cases continues to decline from the spike in mid-February. Six new cases were recorded Thursday and four Friday. 

The previous week, the University saw an average of four new COVID-19 cases a day, which is also the current seven-day average. There are currently 32 active cases, with 27 being students and 5 being faculty or staff. 

The positivity rate for tests has continued to trend down and is currently at 0.19 percent over a seven-day average. The University administered 2,106 tests Sunday, and it currently takes on average 11 hours to complete a test result. 

Quarantine beds, which are reserved for students who may have been exposed to someone who has tested positive for COVID-19, are currently at 2 percent capacity. Isolation beds, which are for those who have tested positive for COVID-19, are at 1 percent capacity. 

U.Va. Health admitted 6 new COVID-19 patients Sunday and currently has 29 COVID-19 patients in-house. 

The continued decrease in University cases comes as the Blue Ridge Health District saw 101 new cases Monday, bringing the total number of cases in the district to 13,797. There are currently 555 Covid-19 patients hospitalized in the district. 

The University’s COVID-19 tracker updates at 4 p.m. Monday to Thursday while the BRHD portal updates at 10 a.m. daily.
