5 Fantasy Football quarterbacks you should buy low on before the trade deadline - ClutchPoints

singkrata.blogspot.com

The quarterback is one of the most interesting positions in fantasy football. They undoubtedly get the most points throughout the season, however, the good ones don’t get drafted until the later rounds.

The mock draft from Fantasy Pros had Patrick Mahomes as the 23rd best player in fantasy as the QB1. Mahomes will probably finish the season in the top five for total points, yet he was ranked lower than guys like Kenyan Drake and Kenny Golladay? It’s bizarre.

Even though quarterbacks don’t get the love that they might deserve in fantasy football, they still are integral pieces to forming a champion.

Don’t be one of those guys who has an amazing team with a waiver wire quarterback. Here are five quarterbacks that you should buy low on heading into the second half of the season.

1. Justin Herbert

Herbert has been one of the most surprising rookies this season for the Chargers, and he is poised to be even better in the second half of the season.

Herbert has thrown for 1,542 yards, 12 touchdowns and four interceptions in his five starts with the Chargers this year, and he’s done it in impressive fashion.

Although he ultimately lost the games, Herbert led an injury riddled Chargers team to almost defeating the Chiefs, Saints, and Bucs. He’s also been having most of his success with Austin Ekeler on the sidelines and Keenan Allen battling injuries.

Once Ekeler returns and the receiving core is fully healthy, Herbert will have even more weapons on offense. The Chargers also have upcoming games against the: Jets, Falcons, and the Raiders twice, all which whom rank in 24th or lower in pass defense.

Herbert is only going to get better as the season progresses, I would buy now while you can because I doubt the price will be any lower.

2. Drew Brees

Drew Brees owners are probably not happy with how Brees has performed so far this year. Brees ranks only 16th passing yards this year with 1,618, and 16th in touchdowns thrown this season.

The once explosive Saints offense has become heavily reliant on checkdowns to Alvin Kamara because of Brees’ inability to throw the ball downfield.

This, however, is about to change. Brees is going to be getting his number one receiving option back any week now. When Michael Thomas does return, it is expected that Brees’ numbers will drastically improve.

When Michael Thomas is playing, this offense is one of the most dynamic in football. I would buy low on Brees while you can.

3. Derek Carr

The Las Vegas Raiders are currently 3-3 and are making a push to be in a wild card position heading into the playoffs. The Raiders have had one of the most explosive passing attacks in the NFL, ranking seventh in pass yards per game, and tied for ninth in passing touchdowns. Yet nobody is talking about how good Derek Carr has been?

Carr is currently on pace to throw for 4,600 yards, 35 touchdowns and only five interceptions! Incredible.

Just to give you a comparison to how that ranks, Aaron Rodgers’ 2014 MVP season comprised of 4,300 passing yards, 38 touchdowns and five interceptions. Eerily similar to how Carr projects this season.

In Yahoo fantasy football leagues, Derek Carr is only owned in 42 percent of leagues. That is absolutely ludicrous for how well he’s been playing this year. A healthy Henry Ruggs and Bryan Edwards should make him even better as the season goes on.

Don’t sleep on Derek Carr, and buy low on him if you can.

4. Lamar Jackson

Now, let’s not mistake this for what it is. Lamar Jackson will not be someone who you can get for next to nothing. With that being said, however, he has been playing far below his MVP caliber of play that we’ve become accustomed to seeing from Jackson. This may be your chance to get Lamar for less than what he’s worth.

Lamar has had three of six weeks under 17 points this season and has had as little as two carries in a game. For how well he played last year, he has definitely been a bit disappointing.

Regardless, Jackson is an elite playmaking machine, with the potential to score 30-plus fantasy points on any given night.

His next three games are against some of the best defenses in the NFL (Steelers, Colts, Patriots). Don’t be surprised if he struggles in these games. As someone looking for a quarterback in their fantasy league, I would try and buy low on Lamar Jackson after this three game stretch (if possible).

There is nothing better than trading with disgruntled fantasy owners of underperforming players. It is likely that you can buy low on Jackson and receive QB1 production. If you can, I would advise that you do so.

5. Drew Lock

This one is a wild card, but I wouldn’t count out Drew Lock just yet.

Lock has had a rough season thus far, but that isn’t entirely his fault.

Courtland Sutton is out for the year with a knee injury and Phillip Lindsay hasn’t been able to stay on the field either. Lock has also battled injuries of his own, keeping him out of three games this season so far.

Regardless of the struggles that he is experiencing now, looking forward, lock is poised to have a solid rest of the season.

Lock plays the Chargers twice, the Raiders, Saints, and Falcons- all bottom 10 pass defenses in the NFL. With Fant, Jeudy, Gordon, and Patrick on this offense, Lock should have no problems putting up some big numbers for Denver.

Lock is owned in only nine percent of Yahoo Fantasy Football leagues, so you can probably pick him up on the waiver wire.

I would recommend doing it now before he starts putting up some big numbers and is one of the hottest commodities going into the latter part of the season.

Just coming up on Week 8, the season is half done and you should have an idea of whether your team has a shot at making the playoffs or not. If you’re a contender, don’t build around an average quarterback.

At the very least, buy low on these five quarterbacks, and help your team reach the finals this year.

Tevin Coleman, Jeff Wilson, 49ers
