Meteorologist April Loveland's First Warning Forecast
Mostly cloudy overnight with lows in the mid 70s.
High pressure will continue to build in through Tuesday, keeping us mostly rain-free for the first half of the day. Temperatures will once again soar to the low 90s with heat index values in the triple digits. Summer is still here! A cold front will approach late Tuesday and early Wednesday, bringing the chance of showers and storms.
Expect a mixture of clouds and sunshine on Wednesday with highs in the upper 80s to near 90.
More sunshine heading into Thursday with highs in the low and mid 90s. Thursday will be the hottest day of the week as a warm front lifts over the area. Expect heat index values 100-105 degrees.
Temperatures will once again trend above normal to end the work week with highs in the low 90s. Rain chances will start to creep upward as well as a cold front approaches along with some possible remnant moisture from tropical storm Laura. Expect highs in the upper 80s. Sunday won't be as hot and actually closer to seasonal with highs in the mid 80s under partly cloudy skies.
Tropical Update:
Marco weakens to a Tropical Depression.
Marco is forecast to continue moving westward near the coast of Louisiana for the next day or so.
Maximum sustained winds near 35 mph.
Marco is forecast to become a remnant low on Tuesday. The system is then forecast to dissipate by early Wednesday.
Tropical Storm Laura is forecast to become a hurricane on Tuesday.
Located about 765 miles SE of Lake Charles, Louisiana.
Moving toward the west-northwest near 20 mph
Maximum sustained winds are near 65 mph.
Laura could be near major hurricane strength when it approaches the coast. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 175 miles from the center.
