RALEIGH, NC. – High Point currently sits in eleventh place midway through the second round of the Wolfpack Intercollegiate.  Play in the second round was delayed to a weather delay, so the Panthers will resume their second round tomorrow at 8:30am, before continuing into the final round.  The Panthers were led by Christian Castillo, who fired a collegiate career low round of 5-under 67 in the first round.  Castillo had 6 birdies and 1 eagle in his first ever round as a Panther at Lonnie Poole Golf Course for HPU.  Castillo is 3-over through thirteen holes in his second round as he currently leads the Panthers at 2-under par.  The Panthers shot a round of 289 in the first round of the tournament as a team.

Round 1
Christian Castillo continued his strong play from the Carolina Collegiate with a collegiate career low round of 5-under 67.  Castillo had 6 birdies on the day, along with an eagle to go along with 3 bogeys.  Castillo started on hole 13 and bogeyed two of his first three holes.  However, he then got on the birdie train beginning on the par-4 16th.  Castillo birdied holes 16 and 18 to get to even par.  Castillo moved to the front nine and had theatrics occur on the par-5 3rd, when he had his first eagle of the young season.  Castillo continued his hot stretch with birdies on holes 5, 7 and 9 to get to 5-under.  A bogey on hole 10 dropped him to -4, but Castillo responded with a birdie on the monster 665-yard par-5 11th to get to -5, where he would finish for Round 1.    
 
The second score on the board for the Panthers in Raleigh belonged to Avery Price Price fired a round of 1-over 73.  Price's scorecard included three birdies, two bogeys, and one double bogey on the morning 18.  Price opened his round with bogeys on holes 12 and 16.  However, a birdie on the par-5 1st hole brought him back to 1-over.  Price had a tough double bogey on the 5th hole to drop to 3-over, however he rallied with two birdies over his final 6 holes to get back to 1-over for the day.  Fellow grad transfer Stuart Fuller was the third scorer of the day for the Panthers with a round of 2-over 74.  Fuller had three bogeys and one birdie on the day, which he scored on the long par-3 2nd hole.  The final scorer for the Panthers in Round 1 belonged to Gregor Meyer who shot a round of 3-over 75.  Meyer opened with three bogeys in his first four holes, before he settled down for the remainder of his round.  Meyer mixed in one birdie and one bogey over his final fourteen holes to finish at 75.  The final Panther competing on the day was freshman Charlie Barr who shot a round of 5-over 77. 
 
Round 2
The Panther got off to a slow start in the second round as they sit at 3-over par midway through the round.  Barr is currently leading the charge for the Panthers at 3-under through 14 holes of play.  Barr has birdies on holes 16, 3, 5, along with the second eagle for the Panthers this tournament at the par-5 7th.  Barr only has two bogies so far on his card for the second round.  Meyer is currently the second scorer for the Panthers, sitting at 1-under through 14 holes, with birdies on holes 13, 15, and 18 and 5, mixed in with three bogeys.  Castillo is sitting as the third scorer with an up and down round of 3-over par through thirteen holes of play.  Castillo bogeyed his four holes of the day and has had an up and down round after that with three birdies and two additional bogies.  The current final scorer for HPU is Fuller, who sits at 4-over par through 13 holes of play.  The final competitor, Price, currently sits at 5-over through 13 holes of play.    
 
Up Next
The Panthers will finish their second round beginning at 8:30am as a weather delay before the start of the second round did not allow the Panthers to finish Round 2.  HPU will stay in their same pairings after the conclusion of the second round for continuous play heading into the final round on Sunday (October 17).
