NEW LONDON, Conn. - The Norwich University men's ice hockey team had its five-game winning streak to open the season snapped in a 2-1 loss to Conn. College on Saturday afternoon at Dayton Arena.

Norwich (5-1) lost for the first time since Dec. 6, 2019 when the Cadets fell 2-1 to Castleton at home at in Kreitzberg Arena. The loss snapped the Cadets' 23-game unbeaten streak dating back to last season as well.

Senior forward Scott Swanson (Wheaton, Ill.) scored Norwich's only goal of the game with an extra attacker after he tipped an initial shot from the point by junior defenseman Alex Monteleone (Montreal, Quebec).

Seth Stadheim scored the game-winning goal for Conn. College on a 4-on-4 opportunity with a breakaway backhand to beat Norwich freshman goalie Landon Pavlisin (Orange, Calif.). Pavlisin made 19 saves in his first collegiate start.

Matt Creamer scored the first goal of the game for Conn. College in the second period before being ejected from the game with a five-minute hitting from behind major later in the period. Norwich failed to capitalize on the long man-advantage opportunity though.

Norwich will return to action next weekend when it takes on New England College in a home-and-home series. The Cadets will travel to Henniker on Friday before hosting NEC on Saturday at 4 p.m. in Kreitzberg Arena.
