DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) - According to the Alabama’s COVID-19 Risk Indicator Dashboard from Alabama Public Health, all of the Wiregrass counties now have a low to moderate risk of spreading COVID-19. That’s from data as of August 21st.

Barbour, Henry, Houston, and Geneva Counties are considered code green, or “low risk.” The dashboard says that cases have been declining in each of these counties two weeks or more. In addition, testing goals are being met.

Pike, Coffee, and Dale Counties are code yellow, or “moderate risk.” While cases have been dropping in each of these counties, the rate is less than 10% in Coffee and Dale Counties, and they have only been dropping between 7 to 13 days in Pike County.

According to the risk indicator website, “Calculations for each county’s risk of COVID-19 spread in the community is based on number of new cases each day. To better represent when the person could potentially spread the disease, the “case date” is calculated based either on the date of specimen collection or symptom onset, depending on which date was first.”

Only two counties in the entire state, Walker and Greene, are considered code red or “very high” risk. You can view the dashboard and all the data it contains here.
