When does the time change? - AL.com

Get ready to fall back.

In less than a month, it will be time to change the clocks to mark the end of daylight saving time. The time change will take place Sunday, Nov. 7 at 2 a.m. so most people will reset their clocks back one hour – assuming your digital device doesn’t handle the issue for you – before going to bed on Saturday night, Nov. 6.

The change will shift more light into the morning hours.

Daylight saving time officially starts on the second Sunday in March and ends on the first Sunday in November. We will restart daylight savings time on March 13, 2022,  when we will “spring forward” one hour.

Ditch falling back and springing forward?

In recent years, more states have pushed back against the time change ritual. Earlier this year, Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey signed a bill that would put Alabama on daylight saving time year-round if Congress ever amends the federal law that would allow states to make the switch.

The Alabama legislation is similar to bills or resolutions passed by 15 other states in the last four years, according to the National Conference of State Legislatures. Georgia and Louisiana adopted similar bills last year.
