BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2021 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Palm Beach County is finally back in the “low risk” zone for COVID-19 spread, according to Kinsa.

This is the first time in several months that the health data company has declared Palm Beach County to be low risk. The region was at a 99 — or “critical condition — just weeks ago. The county now rates a “24” on a scale from 1 to 100.

Kinsa is the company that monitors anonymized data transmitted from hundreds of thousands of “connected” thermometers to determine what’s normal and what isn’t for sickness based on location and time of year. The company accurately predicted the initial spread of COVID-19, and continues to be credited for extremely accurate predictions of subsequent waves.

Health officials worldwide rely on Kinsa’s “HealthWeather” algorithm to prepare for potential increased spread, and to determine just how bad predicted illness may be. It’s not just COVID, Kinsa’s system monitors any illness that is registered by a thermometer.

Despite the good news, there continues to be concern from medical experts that the “Delta Plus” variant, or Mu variant, could be problematic. But for now, there is no indication based on Kinsa’s HealthWeather report that Palm Beach County is in immediate danger.

The CDC says at least 58,608 people have died in Florida from COVID-19.
