W.Va. (WVVA) - The West Virginia Promise Application numbers have dropped nearly 50%, along with FAFSA completions now being down 20%.

That's all according to the State Treasurer's office, who accredit the dip in higher education assistance to the current pandemic.

With the deadline of March 1st quickly approaching, the state office is urging high school students and their parents to take advantage of the free assistance.

"We're a resilient strong people here in this state and I think we just need to soldier on here and continue on with our lives the best that we can as we continue to combat this virus," said West Virginia Treasurer, Riley Moore.
