3 Freshmen Move Up All-Time Lists Friday at Big Tens - Purdue Boilermakers

MINNEAPOLIS – Freshmen Masy Folcik, Evie Sierra and Abby Harter all moved up or joined one of the program's all-time lists via a season-best time, headlining Friday at the Big Ten Championships for Purdue women's swimming.

Folcik and Riley Kishman posted matching NCAA provisional qualifying times (B Cuts) in the 100 breaststroke while scoring in the C final. Folcik's time of 1:01.70 moved her into ninth place in program history. She bested her time of 1:01.79 from November. Kishman posted a time of 1:01.72. Both swimmers successfully improved on their preliminary times from Friday and finished among the top 21 in a field of 46 swimmers.

Sierra joined Lindsay Turner in the C final of the 200 butterfly. Turner broke two minutes again with a Purdue season-best time of 1:59.84 in the final, which would have been good for 13th in program history but the sophomore already ranks sixth. Sierra posted a time of 2:00.52 in the prelim to move up one spot into 14th place on Purdue's all-time list. They finished among the top 25 in a field of 56 swimmers.

Harter led the way in the 100 backstroke with a time of 55.28, which moved her into 15th place in program history, while finishing 32nd in the prelims.

Fellow freshman Hayley Pike won her prelim heat of the 200 fly while posting a personal season-best time and finishing 30th overall. Sylvia Kobylak was also a top-30 finisher, placing 28th in the prelims of the 100 breast.

Claire Abbasse's time of 23.25 on the leadoff leg of the 200 free relay stands as a Purdue season best in the 50 free. Freshman Kendal Schreder led the way with a split of 22.94 on the third leg of the race.

The Boilermakers will enter the final day of the meet in a ninth-place tie with Penn State in the team scoring.

Action concludes Saturday with the 100 free, 1650 free, 200 back, 200 breast and 400 free relay. Prelims begin at noon ET and the finals session is set for 7:30 p.m.
