As Chesterfield County seeks a contractor to potentially demolish a 184-year-old house on the site of Old Hundred Elementary School, a group of local historic preservationists is racing against the clock to save it.
They want to lift the 2,900-square-foot Justis house off its original foundation, transport it to a location in Mid-Lothian Mines Park and refurbish it for use as a museum. To do so, they may have to raise as much as $2 million in less than three months.
