Buy Low, Sell High Week 7: Should Managers Buy Low on Wan'Dale Robinson and Sell High on Marquise Brown? - Pro Football Network

Week 6 of the fantasy football season continued to bring us more ups and downs and head-scratching moments. Savvy fantasy managers will be able to take advantage of these ebbs and flows to improve their teams. Here are a handful of players entering Week 6 of the fantasy football season that presents an optimal opportunity to buy low or sell high on.

Since expectations vary across fantasy managers, there could be a window for you to acquire some of these players at a value. All of these candidates are in a position to exceed expectations for the rest of this season.

Wan’Dale Robinson, New York Giants

After spending a second-round pick on him, the Giants desperately need Wan’Dale Robinson to be the playmaker he was in college as both a receiver and a rusher. On Sunday, we saw a glimpse of what he can bring to a better than you though New York Giants offense.

While he wasn’t out there much (15 snaps), 13 of those came in 11 personnel showing they felt confident in him to be a leading receiver despite missing time due to injuries. Of those 15 snaps, he had a 73% route participation while catching three of his four targets for 37 yards and a touchdown.

With a combination of injuries and a sheer lack of performance, Robinson could be the Giants’ No. 1 as early as next week against the Jaguars. I am buying low on Robinson where possible, as his fantasy value is set to rise.

DJ Moore, Carolina Panthers

The fact I am even listing DJ Moore as a buy-low candidate needs to be on my dating profile to show just how committed I can be to someone. I’m such a catch.

Before you laugh, just hear me out. Guys as talented as Moore should never be available. This is still the same cat who entered the season with three straight years of 1,250 scrimmage yards or more. Heck, he was the only one with that streak.

He had another busy day on Sunday, too, recording seven targets (33% target share) which were only behind Christian McCaffrey (8), who they looked to be boosting his trade value in the process. Yeah, he only had three receptions and seven yards, but I don’t want to talk about that.

Robbie Anderson is gone. Plain and simple. With him leaves a 15.6% target share and a 29.6% air yard share. The rest of this roster is Shi Smith, Terrace Marshall, and Laviska Shenault. They have literally no choice but to throw to Moore whether they like it or not. A substantial culture change is happening in Carolina, and Moore is at the center of it all.

I can’t believe I am saying this, but Sam Darnold’s pending return, as early as Week 7, could be the best thing that could happen. There is not a single player in the NFL with the level of talent of Moore that you can get for pennies, as fantasy managers want him off their rosters.

While I don’t think they will, if Carolina traded him, Moore would be back to the untouchable range. Feel like selling Moore? Well, I’m your Huckleberry.

Travis Etienne Jr., Jacksonville Jaguars

We have now officially entered the age of Travis Etienne Jr., but the fantasy community’s love for James Robinson will likely keep their blinders on just how explosive Etienne can be.

There were so many signs this was coming. Etienne had way too many plays that he almost broke. Well, now he is seeing volume where fantasy managers know those can become a constant. Etienne not only out-snapped Robinson for the third-straight week (29 to 27) and ran more routes (14 to 8) but also saw ten carries, rushing for 86 yards while adding 22 yards on two receptions.

That’s coming off the heels of a 114-total-yard performance in Week 5 against Houston. He is the running back you want to start for the Jaguars, and I don’t see him falling out of the top 20, barring a problematic matchup. Buy low on one of the most explosive players we have seen in quite a few seasons.

Who Are Some Fantasy Football Week 7 Candidates To Sell High?

Actual value vs. perceived value is also something fantasy managers need to have the pulse on. It cannot only tell you when to buy low but also when to sell high before the floor crashes out. Here are three players that could be worth selling before their value drops.

Chase Claypool, Pittsburgh Steelers

If someone is willing to believe what Chase Claypool did today is sustainable, by all means, sell as high as you possibly can.

Recording seven receptions on seven targets for 96 yards in a score with 8 yards on the ground, Claypool had one of the best days of his career (23.4 PPR) despite the Steelers having to switch from Kenny Pickett to Mitch Trubisky due to the rookie signal collar suffering a concussion.

Claypool and efficiency go together like oil and water. They just don’t mix. But this was also a product of how the Tampa Bay Buccaneers played defense.

They focused and shut down a team’s top option yet were fourth in receiving yards allowed per game to No. 2 WRs (68.9) entering Week 6. It’s why I was recommending sitting Diontae Johnson and was focusing on George Pickens, but it ended up being Claypool’s day.

Add in Pat Freiermuth, who was missing from today (concussion) and will always garner a significant target share, and Claypool is a massive sell-high ahead of Week 7.

Marquise Brown, Arizona Cardinals

I’m worried about Marquise Brown. And that doesn’t really have anything to do with his play on the field. In fact, he’s been sensational. He came into Week 6 as the No. 6 overall receiver in PPR scoring while averaging 19.5 PPR/game with a 26.3% target share and a 39.5% air yard share. Like I said, fantastic numbers.

However, there are two big factors working against him. Firstly, DeAndre Hopkins makes his return in week seven after missing the first six games due to a suspension levied by the NFL for performance-enhancing drugs.

Secondly, there’s a good chance Brown might be more injured than some people think. Although x-rays were negative after he was rolled up on at the end of the game, there is heavy speculation that Brown might’ve suffered a potential turf toe or Lisfranc re-injury.

We won’t know until the team runs the MRIs, but if it were me, I would consider selling high on brown ahead of Week 7 with the looming return of Hopkins weighing heavily into that decision, as there’s no way he will maintain the same workload as he has this year. And worse yet? He could miss time.

Aaron Jones, Green Bay Packers

Green Bay is a mess, and at this point, I want as little to do this often as possible, and that’s not something I thought I would ever be saying so long as Aaron Rodgers was under center.

But it’s more than that. What Matt LaFleur is doing is indefensible. How on Earth, in a game where you have 13 drives, does Aaron Jones touch the ball only 12 times?

Not only was he out-carried by AJ Dillon 10 to 9, but in a game where Green Bay was down three receivers at one point and 17 points, his four targets were fifth most on the team. It’s infuriating. He was 17th in targets coming into the week, and his value was predicated on absurd target volume with Davante Adams gone.

Limited is 19 yards rushing in Week 6 against the Jets, this was a spot for Jones to smash. By no means am I selling for pennies on the dollar. But despite having two weeks with over 110 rushing yards on the ground, Jones only has one game of 15 or more PPR points.

Is it risky? Yes. There is always a risk associated with trading a productive running back with a solid track record. But I would rather have guys like Kenneth Walker III or Breece Hall on my team for the rest of the season. If you can get a return like that, I would sell high on Jones.
