USC's Lanae-Tava Thomas, Jalyn Jackson Are 2-Time Winners At Cal Dual Meet - University of Southern California Official Athletic Site

Jalyn Jackson and Lanae-Tava Thomas won a pair of events each as USC won 19 of the 23 events it competed in at the California Dual Meet in Berkeley, Calif. today (April 10).  In addition, McKay Johnson moved into sixth place on USC's all-time men's shot put list.
 
  • Jackson opened his day with a win in the men's long jump with a best wind-aided leap of 24-5.50/7.45m (+3.4w).  He came back at the end of the day to win the men's triple jump with a jump of 49-0.00/15.16 (+0.6).
  • Thomas was a two-time individual winner in the women's 100m and 200m dashes. First she won the 100m with a season-best time of 11.49 (-1.4).  Morgan Small finished third in the 100m with a time of 11.88 (-1.4).  Then Thomas won the women's 200m with a time of 23.25 (+2.0).  Bailey Lear was second in the 200m with a time of 23.75 (+2.0), Mecca McGlaston was third with a time of 23.94 (+2.0) and Jan'Taijah Ford was fifth with a time of 24.27 (+2.0).
  • Johnson won the men's shot put with a season-best mark of 64-4.50 (19.62m) which moved him into sixth place on USC's all-time list in the shot put.  Matthew Katnik, who sits fifth on that same list, had a best shot put today of 62-7.25 (19.08m) to finish third. Currently Katnik and Johnson rank fifth and seventh respectively on the NCAA descending order list.
  • Nathan Bultman began the day for the Trojans by winning the men's hammer throw with a PR of 220-9 (67.28m), which bettered his 10th place standing on USC's all-time list.  Trey Knight took second in the men's hammer throw with a PR of 219-6 (66.90m) and Christian Johnson was fourth with a mark of 190-11 (55.73m).
  • Karlee Freeman won the women's discus throw with a season-best mark of 174-1 (53.06m).
  • Morgan Smalls won the women's high jump with a clearance of 5-7.75 (1.72m).  Temi Ojora cleared the same height but finished second due to misses.
  • Temi Ojora came back to win the women's triple jump with a best mark of 42-8.75/13.02m (-1.3).  That jump came in her final attempt and tied the previous leader, but Ojora's previous best of 42-6 secured her the win.  Small finished third in the triple jump with a season wind-aided best of 41-10.50/12.76m (+2.8w).
  • Mecca McGlaston won the women's 100m hurdles with a season-best time of 13.16 (-0.4).
  • Tade Ojora won the men's 110m hurdles with a time of 14.02 (+0.7).
  • USC's women took the first five places in the 400m dash with Ford winning with a season-best time of 52.65, Kimberly Harris taking second with a time of 52.89, Chioma Okonkwo finishing third with a time of 55.88 and Jemima Russell taking fourth and Alyssa Brewer fifth with collegiate best times respectively of 56.13 and 56.48.
  • Brian Herron won the men's 400m with a season-best time of 46.36, while Zach Shinnick was second at 46.85, Nicholas Ramey third at 47.03 and Ashton Allen fifth at 48.79.
  • Davonte Burnett had a PR of 10.42 (-1.0) to win the men's 100m dash, followed by Kenan Christon in second with a time of 10.51 (-1.0).
  • Breanna Bernard-Joseph won the women's 400m hurdles by tying her career best time of 59.49.
  • Kyra Constantine won the women's 800m race with a time of 2:16.58
  • George Gleason won the men's 3000m race with a PR of 8:24.16.  Sam VanDorpe finished fourth with a time of 9:14.38.
  • Jack Carter finished second in the men's 1500m race by 0.01 seconds, finishing with a season-best time of 3:57.83.
  • Josh Ligas placed third in the men's 800m race with a PR of 1;51.04.
  • Joy McArthur placed third in the women's hammer throw with a mark of 197-11 (60.34m) and Karlee Freeman finished fifth with a throw of 182-10 (55.73m).
  • Abygail Paez ran the first 1500m race of her career and placed fifth with a time of 5:03.74.
  • USC closed out the meet with a pair of wins in the 4x400m relays.  First, the women's team of Bernard-Joseph, Okonkwo, Constantine and Lear won with a time of 3:37.64, then the men's team of Shinnick, Ramey, Herron and Ashton Allen won with a time of 3:10.64.
