Recovery from COVID-19 is not linear and is self-reported by people when Public Health follows up with them throughout their illness. With the recent increase in daily cases, Public Health prioritizes initial outreach and contact tracing with new cases, and the recovery factors mentioned above are understandably not yet met by a majority of the positive cases in New Hanover County, resulting in a relatively low number of recovered patients.
