FIRST ALERT FORECAST: Tropical low in Gulf to bring some rain to coast before likely Texas landfall - WAFB

singkrata.blogspot.com

Lastly, way out in the central tropical Atlantic, Tropical Storm Gonzalo continues to move to the west towards the Caribbean. Gonzalo strengthened Wednesday and as of 4 p.m., maximum sustained winds are estimated to be 50 mph. The National Hurricane Center’s latest forecast calls for Gonzalo to become a Category 1 hurricane Thursday, but weaken slightly due to dry air and wind shear before reaching the Lesser Antilles Saturday. At this time of year, the Caribbean region is often dominated by shearing winds, explaining additional weakening in the forecast through the weekend and into early next week. Gonzalo is of no immediate concern for Louisiana interests; we will assess the storm’s status and location early next week to determine whether Gonzalo might make a Gulf appearance.
