When a low temperature of 30 was recorded at the Harrisburg International Airport early Sunday morning, it made for not only the coldest May 10 on record, but also the coldest temperature ever recorded there in May.
According to the National Weather Service at State College, this morning’s low broke the May low-temperature record of 31, set on May 11, 1966.
And while sunny skies and warmer temperatures are in store for the rest of Mother’s Day, it will still be an unseasonably cool start to the week.
Sunday will be mostly sunny with a high near 61. It will be a breezy day, too, with a west wind of 5 to 11 mph and gusts up to 20 mph.
For Sunday night, expect a 30 percent chance of rain after 9 p.m. on a mostly cloudy night with a low of 45.
Monday will be rainy and cooler with a high of 52 and a low of 38. Expect a slight chance of showers early in the morning, followed by a 60 percent chance of showers between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. and a 40 percent chance at night. More windy conditions with gusts up to 21 mph are in store.
Tuesday will be sunny with a high of 55 and a low of 37 with wind gusts up to 20 mph.
Wednesday is on track to be sunny and warmer with a high of 63 and a low of 43.
Thursday will see a 30 percent chance of showers after 9 a.m. and a 50 percent chance at night with a high of 67 and a low of 56.
Friday will be partly sunny with more spring-like temperatures with a high of 78 and a low of 59. A 50 percent chance of showers is in store.
And Saturday will be partly sunny with a 40 percent chance of showers and a high near 78.
