LAKEVIEW — The Low-Line Market is set to go on, possibly returning next week with strict measures in place to protect people during the pandemic.

The market, which sells locally grown produce, flowers and artisanal goods, is tentatively set to open for the season June 4, according to Friends of Lakeview.

It will be open Thursdays from 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. through Oct. 15 at the Southport Brown Line Station.

The market will have new guidelines that include social distancing, protective coverings, enhanced sanitation measures and a new design that discourages congregating.

It will no longer stage live music, kids activities or chef demonstrations, or allow food sampling or food cooked on-site, Friends of Lakeview said.

The Low-Line Market also asks that customers:

  • Maintain at least six feet of physical distance from other people;
  • Wear a mask or face covering and avoid touching their face;
  • Stay home if they feel sick or have any symptoms;
  • Use credit or debit cards over cash payments (cash-paying customers should not expect to receive change);
  • Pre-order products when possible;
  • Not touch products or produce at vendor stands and allow the venders to bag them (shoppers using reusable bags will need to bag purchases themselves);
  • Use hand sanitizer that’s readily available at vendor booths;
  • Vvoid lingering at the market; and
  • Don’t consume food at the market.

“We’re operating as an ‘in-and-out’ style market,” said Sierra Buffum, Lakeview Chamber Market Manager. “While it may not look exactly like it has in years past, we’re looking forward to fresh, nutritious food to the community and supporting the local food economy, while keeping shoppers and vendors safe.”

This season’s vendors currently include:

  • B’s Gourmet Nuts
  • Elsie Mae’s Pies & Canning
  • Fehr Bros Farms
  • Five Squared
  • Global Gardens Farm
  • Greg Kugel Farms
  • Johnny D’s Cold Brew
  • Los Rodriguez Farm
  • Lyons Fruit Farm
  • Mellory
  • Mjm Provo’s Village Bake Shoppe
  • Soft Wave Fish Co.
  • Stamper Cheese
  • Supreme Bean Pie
  • Tamales Express
  • That’s Amore Florist
