Opening Tip
The Drexel University women's basketball team plays on the road for the first time this season when it travels to the University of Maryland Eastern Shore on Saturday, November 20. Tipoff from Hytche Athletic Center in Princess Anne, Md. is slated for 2:00 p.m.

About Drexel
Drexel enters play 2-1 overall after a second consecutive City 6 win, downing La Salle 71-65 on Wednesday. In the game, Tessa Brugler had her second double-double of the season with 17 points and 11 rebounds and tied the school best since joining the CAA (2001-02) with six blocks.

Wednesday was the second consecutive game where the Dragons posted four players who each scored in double figures. Prior to the contests, Drexel hadn't put four players in double figures since January 30, 2021 at Northeastern.

Through three games, Drexel is also averaging 33.3 points in the paint, up from 24.3 per game last season. Of the Dragons 100 points in the paint in 2021-22, Brugler (34) and Mariah Leonard (30) account for 64.0 percent.

Being on the road has not been an issue for Drexel in recent years as DU has a 40-16 (.714) record since the start of the 2017-18 season in true road games.

Milestone Watch
Hannah Nihill enters the game with 994 career points.

Scouting UMES
Maryland Eastern Shore enters play 2-1 overall and is coming off an 86-28 win against Division III Bryn Athyn on Tuesday. The Hawks have played two of their first three games against lower division teams, also beating Claflin (D-II). In its only game against Divison I competition this season, UMES fell to Saint Joseph's.

The Hawks were selected to finish fifth out of eight teams in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC). Maryland Eastern Shore did receive two first place votes in the preseason poll in what looks to be a highly competitive conference. Both Brooklyn Bailey and Bairesha Gill-Miles were selected to the preseason All-Conference Third Team.

Not surprisingly, Gill-Miles and Bailey lead the team in scoring at 10.3 and 7.7 points per game respectively. Also coming in at 7.7 a game off the bench is Zamara Haynes. Gill-Miles, Jamaya Blanks, and Mahogany Lester each pull in 4.7 rebounds per game while Mya Thomas leads the Hawks at 2.3 assists an outing.

Turnovers have been the story of the season for UMES, both good and bad as they have forced opponents into 19.3 miscues per contest, but have also committed 18 per game itself. Another interesting aspect of the Hawks is that 13 players have appeared in all three games with one other playing in a pair.

Fred Batchelor is in his 18th season as the head coach of Maryland Eastern Shore and has compiled a 203-275 record with the Hawks. In his 22nd season overall of coaching, he is 263-322 with previous stops at Buffalo State and Elizabeth City State.

All-Time Series
Saturday is the fourth all-time meeting between Drexel and UMES with the Hawks holding a 2-1 all-time series advantage. The schools haven't faced each other in women's basketball in more than 30 years, however, as the last meeting was on December 17, 1990.

Up Next
Drexel heads out of town for Thanksgiving to compete in The Dana on Mission Bay Holiday Tournament, hosted by the University of San Diego. On Friday, November 26 the Dragons play Nebraska at 7:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time.
