You might feel like time is slipping away, but soon you’ll get an hour back.
That’s right, the end of Daylight Saving Time is nigh, meaning at 2 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 7, clocks will rewind 60 minutes and you’ll experience the 1 o’clock hour all over again.
You’ve probably already noticed that the sun is setting sooner as we head into fall. The annual demise of Daylight Saving Time will accelerate this process. The sun is now setting at around 7 p.m., and in a month -- before the clocks “fall back” -- it will set around 6 p.m. (Remember those glorious July days when the hot orb stayed in the sky until 9?)
Yes, the Oregon Legislature voted in 2019 to keep the state on Daylight Saving Time forevermore, but it’s not as simple as that. Congress has to give the nod to the plan, for one thing. So for now Oregon continues to “fall back” and “spring forward” every year.
